This glorious plant is in the Solanacaea (nightshade) whanau and like it's brothers and sisters, has purple flowers and seed-filled fruits (think "tomato" and "tamarillo"). If you are a potentially child-bearing female feeding on these fruits, you would be unlikely to conceive, such is the oestrogen content of the plant, or some such...
